Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling den, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel building that contains many conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
